Touring an empty, freezing prison in the middle of winter may sound more like some kind of punishment than an adventure quest, but that's exactly what is being offered in Pennsylvania this holiday season. The Eastern State Penitentiary is located in the center of Philadelphia, just a few blocks from the Philadelphia Museum of Art. According to an article from Reuters, the tour consists of, 'an hour-long tour of the beautiful, winter cellblocks with an expert guide and a cup of Hot Chocolate! Each small group (limited to 25people) will be paired with an expert Eastern State tour guide. The tours consist of a one-hour guided walk through the empty penitentiary complex, and include a free cup of Hot Chocolate in the center surveillance hub! There are even photographs of the inmates' Christmas celebrations on view." The prison excursion is one of the more unusual tours adventure I have ever heard of, but history buffs and and people interested in prisons may find it fascinating. Personally, I prefer an adventure quest that's in the outdoors, despite this tour's unquestionable historical interest. Give me white water rafting, hiking, or sky diving instead.
