Now that it is winter in the Northern Hemisphere, most of us think that taking an adventure quest is out of the question. However it's not. My sister and I are going on an adventure quest in the mountains of New Mexico next weekend and we are going to camp at 8,000 feet and do some cross-country skiing. She bought a four seasons tent and we both have sleeping bags rated for 20 below, and so we are going to try an overnight in the woods and go cross-country skiing during the day.
Most people think we're crazy for taking on such an adventure quest, but we are really looking forward to it. Imagine skiing all day long and coming back to the campsite and cooking up a huge meal and drinking some well chilled wine. With this kind of an adventure quest we certainly don't need to worry about the calories we consume because cross-country skiing and being outside in the cold burn tremendous amounts of calories. But to be on the safe side, we will camp next to the minivan with a very full tank of gas so if we get too terribly cold we can always just drive out of there.
