An adventure quest is always a memorable experience, especially if you are outdoor oriented. I wanted to go on a short adventure quest over the holidays this year, so I went to Taos, NM, where I met a friend who lives there, and we were going to go cross country skiing, and even go winter camping. Well, the reality of the adventure quest was so far from what I expected, that we ended up just doing short day hikes, and staying in the condo with the fireplace going, eating good food, and watching movies.
It was laughable thinking that I could get on skis with the weather below zero and the elevation around 9,200 feet. I come from Phoenix where cold is 60 degrees, and our elevation is 1,200 feet. And even funnier is thinking that snow camping would be fun! While the scenery was awesome and the snow perfect for skiing, it would have been just too dangerous for me to go on an adventure quest under those conditions. Maybe I'll go back this summer when it's 115 in Phoenix, and camping here is out of the question, but camping there would be a dreamy thing to do.
