I conquered my fears while white water rafting! |

I happen to be one of those people who really does not enjoy pain or discomfort. I like to be comfortable in a peaceful, serene setting with my day planned out before me. I would never be the sort of girl who would go sky diving or cliff jumping. Well, this is what my mother would tell you about me. But I have a secret...
I am a daredevil in the worst way! I have never taken baby steps toward any goal in life. If I fear something, I hit it head on with my best shot. When I realized I was afraid of heights while diving in a controlled high-dive practice, I decided to conquer my fear by going cliff jumping. Did I go to the little cliff, just to be safe? No way! I was the only girl atop an 8 story-high cliff, with no way down but to jump. You want to talk about an adventure quest? This conquered my fear of heights because I had done something I thought was impossible, and lived to tell everyone else all about it!
I also realized I was very afraid of rushing water when I was caught in the undertow while body surfing in the Pacific Ocean. So when my girlfriend suggested a white water rafting trip, I knew that was the answer for me! I had never been white water rafting before, so this was really going to be adventure. I had no idea what to expect and my fears mounted. I was surprised to find that I was so busy having fun and getting doused with cold water on that very hot day, that I forgot I was afraid. I was having too much fun to remember!
I think I will try sky diving for my 30th birthday. I have wanted to do it since I was a little girl. My father promised to take me when I turned 16. Maybe I should take him up on that offer now?
